SSR Personnel Consolidates Freelance Engineers

Having provided Contract Engineers to the Fire, Security and related industries for the past 18 years, SSR is increasing its client guarantees with the launch of their E-Vendor Management Services offering consolidation for clients who have various contractors providing services.

To underpin their service they have in place a 75,000 insurance policy to meet the cost of any IR35 enquiries. Jeff Johnson, SSR Director stated, April 2009 celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Intermediaries Legislation (commonly referred to as IR35) which was introduced to ensure contract workers who are not genuinely self-employed pay the correct level of PAYE & NIC. This year has seen the introduction by HM Treasury of the Managed Service Company (MSC) legislation as they estimate that some 350m pa is still being underpaid from contract workers that are being advised by Accountancy Service Providers (ASP), who by demonstrating influence, control and involvement in the financial affairs of their clients limited companies, are deemed to be MSC providers by HM Treasury. If contractors are employed in this way then the company to which services are being provided, may find themselves liable for unpaid PAYE & NIC as a party in the contractual chain. SSR is able to mitigate this risk through its E-Vendor Management Services.
