REC HIGHLIGHTS INDUSTRY CONCERNS AT PUBLIC PROCUREMENT CONFERENCE
The REC will be taking forward the industrys message on public procurement issues at todays launch of a high-profile report by the CBI and the Local Government Association (LGA).
The new report focuses on key challenges facing all service providers into the public sector and on the need for sustainable commissioning procedures. The REC was invited to feed into the final report through recent workshops and meetings with the LGA, individual local authorities and representatives from the Governments Department for Communities and Local Government.
Commenting on todays high profile conference and launch, REC Director of External Relations, Tom Hadley says: The increasing focus on cutting public expenditure makes it more important than ever for the public and private sectors to agree on some key principles in terms of commissioning and procurement. Within this context, the RECs message is that the procurement of recruitment services must balance inevitable cost control priorities with sustainability and the need to recognise quality of provision. We must not lose sight of the fact that effective recruitment is crucial to the delivery of front line services.
The CBI/LGA Local Strategic Commissioning conference and report launch is taking place on Tuesday 14th July at the Inmarstat Conference Centre in London.
The REC is a member of the CBIs Local Government Panel. Recent meetings have included discussions with Government officials, local authorities as well as with Shadow Communities Minister who outlined some the Conservative partys priorities in this area.
