The Masters in Bioscience Enterprise at The University of Cambridge is a one year multi-disciplinary biotechnology and business degree course run at the Institute of Biotechnology. The programme provides training in the latest advances in exploitable biotechnology and enjoys strong business connections with the biotech and pharma industry in the UK and overseas. As part of the course, Samuel undertook an internship placement with renowned pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline in Hertfordshire, providing him with invaluable experience of working in a commercial environment, as well as giving him an excellent opportunity to research and collect data as the basis for his dissertation.
Samuel Hall commented on his award: I am delighted to have won this years RSA dissertation award. The Bioscience Enterprise programme has provided me with an excellent overview of the theoretical and commercial aspects of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, which complements my existing knowledge in molecular biology. My internship at GSK has given me invaluable insights into the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, and the contacts and knowledge I have gained from the MBE course will without doubt help shape my future career.   Tarquin Bennett-Coles, Director of RSA Interims who presented the award said We would like to congratulate Samuel for producing such an outstanding piece of work for which he was an outright winner. Nurturing and showcasing todays talent is vital for RSA, and with offices across the UK, Europe and Asia Pacific we hope that the relationship between RSA and the MBE programme will flourish as graduates progress their careers around the world.
