RSA collaborates with University of Cambridge to help nurture talent in the field of bioscience enterprise
RSA, Global leaders in Executive Search and Interim Management to the life sciences industry, proud sponsors of The University of Cambridges 2009 Masters in Bioscience Enterprise dissertation award were delighted to present Samuel Hall with an award and cheque at a special ceremony held yesterday at The Institute of Biotechnology. This award was in recognition of his outstanding dissertation Managing activities related to an internal technology incubator. The sponsorship of this dissertation award for the second consecutive year is part of RSAs commitment to encouraging and developing talent pools in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.
The Masters in Bioscience Enterprise at The University of Cambridge is a one year multi-disciplinary biotechnology and business degree course run at the Institute of Biotechnology. The programme provides training in the latest advances in exploitable biotechnology and enjoys strong business connections with the biotech and pharma industry in the UK and overseas. As part of the course, Samuel undertook an internship placement with renowned pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline in Hertfordshire, providing him with invaluable experience of working in a commercial environment, as well as giving him an excellent opportunity to research and collect data as the basis for his dissertation.
Samuel Hall commented on his award: I am delighted to have won this years RSA dissertation award. The Bioscience Enterprise programme has provided me with an excellent overview of the theoretical and commercial aspects of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries, which complements my existing knowledge in molecular biology. My internship at GSK has given me invaluable insights into the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, and the contacts and knowledge I have gained from the MBE course will without doubt help shape my future career.
