HRH DUKE OF YORK PRESENTS ORION GROUP WITH QUEENS AWARD

- Company announces three new overseas offices -

Scotlands leading recruitment agency, Orion Group, was presented with the prestigious Queens Award for Enterprise by HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York.

The presentation comes as the company announces a 2m investment programme, with the recruitment specialist opening three new offices in Papua New Guinea, Alaska and Gabon in West Central Africa, this month (September).

Orion Group was awarded the accolade for international trade earlier in the year in recognition of growth in overseas earnings. HRH Duke of York, made the official presentation at Orion House where he met the management team and 120 staff.

Despite a difficult economic climate for the recruitment sector, Orion Group is continuing to invest for growth. The companys Alaskan office will tender for new contracts from multi-national oil corporations to service the new Alaska Gas Pipeline. Papua New Guinea will concentrate on training engineering graduates for oil and gas projects in Australia and the Gabon team will service the Groups management consultancy division, Orion Completions and Commissioning Management Services Ltd (OCCMS).

Alan Savage, chairman of Orion Group said: Receiving the Queens Award and todays official presentation has been a tremendous honour for the company and our committed team. Coupled with the opening of our new overseas offices, this year has been a great success despite the downturn.

The recession has allowed us to review and reflect and our success comes from keeping costs under control, while continuing to drive our business development programme. As a result, Orion is moving towards the end of 2009 in a strong market position as the leading engineering recruitment specialist.
