REC ramps up presence at Party Conferences

The REC will be attending all the main party conferences this year to ensure the voice of recruitment is heard loud and clear by politicians of all hues.

Speaking on the opening of Conference season, Tom Hadley, the RECs Director of External Relations said: As we move towards a General Election, it is vital that we get ahead of the game and ensure that politicians understand the concerns of the recruitment industry. Creating new jobs is high up everyone's political agenda and recruiters will play a crucial role moving people into work.

In addition to underlining the industrys overall contribution, scheduled meetings and fringe events will ensure that the voice of recruiters is heard on a range of issues including business regulation, public procurement and future skills needs.

Speaking from the Liberal Democrat Conference in Bournemouth, Chris Richards, REC Policy and PR Executive said: "The REC has been building links with the Liberal Democrats for many years. For example, Lorely Burt MP was a useful supporter when the Private Members Bill on agency work was being debated in Parliament.

This weeks conference will include a focus on areas such as job creation and the provision of social care services. The practical experience of recruiters who are in front line of the labour market and a key enabler of front line services will be vital to these and other key debates."
