REC in Manchester - Public sector cuts will impact on recruiters
Following yesterday's focus on jobs, the key theme of today's discussions at the Conservative Party Conference in Manchester is public expenditure.
Responding the Shadow Chancellor George Osborne's speech earlier today, REC Head of Public Policy, Anne Fairweather said: "This morning's speech clearly highlighted the dramatic changes which could happen in the public sector after the next election. Proposed cuts to Government departments, pay freezes and the review of Government procurement could all have a knock on effect on recruiters operating in the public sector.
"The REC will continue to ensure that all political parties understand the industry's contribution and the key role that temporary and contract staff play in the public sector. These are difficult economic times but good recruitment and flexible staffing arrangements can be part of the solution in terms of delivering front line services cost-effectively.
