REC WELCOMES 500TH NEW MEMBER OF 2009

A Sheffield recruitment agency has become the 500th new member of Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) in 2009.

This significant milestone has been reached just nine months into 2009 demonstrating the value and importance recruitment businesses continually place on having the support of their representative trade body especially during a difficult economic climate.

This is also the biggest surge in REC membership since changes to the Employment Agencies Act came into force in 2003.

Joining the REC is Lynx Recruitment Services Ltd which specialises primarily in the supply of public sector staff in and around Sheffield. The family run company which currently employs 12 staff started trading in June 2001, its two biggest clients being the local NHS trust and Sheffield City Council. It also provides a vital service to the socially deprived city community of Attercliffe.

Mark Wilson, Lynxs Managing Director, explained: We decided to become an REC member not only for the many services it provides in areas such as legal but more importantly, because it is a recognised standard of good practice within the recruitment industry.

New members joining the REC this year have come from all sectors, but a majority has come from the higher end Interim, Professional and Executive sectors as well as Engineering.

Kevin Green, the RECs Chief Executive said: This surge in membership show that increasing numbers of recruitment companies now acknowledge us as the voice of the industry and the one best equipped to serve their current needs.

As we strive to professionalise the industry, we will continue demonstrating the values and benefits of membership in giving companies a real business advantage especially in the current trading conditions.
