Cake all round as APSCo celebrates its 10th birthday

The Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) celebrated its 10th birthday with cake (picture attached) this month, having formed in 1999 as the Association of Technology Staffing Companies to lobby, provide business intelligence and to raise standards within the technology staffing industry.

This year has seen dramatic growth for APSCo as it merged with the Forum of Professional Recruiters (FPR) in January. The merger with the FPR expanded APSCos remit to include the wider professional recruitment sector. APSCo now has 220 members, having been founded with 14 members in 1999.

Since forming ten years ago, APSCo has continuously campaigned to minimise the impact of harmful legislation on the recruitment profession, from winning concessions on IR35 that would have made recruiters liable for contractors tax debts, to lobbying on the Agency Workers Directive, for exclusion of the top end of the market from the draft Regulations.

Last year APSCo organised the industrys first overseas trade delegation to Abu Dhabi and Qatar helping to win new business for many of its members. APSCo won a Trade Association Forum award in 2009 for the success of its first overseas trade delegation.

Comments Ann Swain, Chief Executive, of APSCo: A lot has happened in the last 10 years, which has seen APSCo flourish and grow far beyond our expectations back in 1999. We will continue to show best practice in our support of the professional recruitment market, both from a lobbying and a business intelligence perspective. Heres to the next decade of APSCo!
