PCG National Freelancers Day
PCG National Freelancers Day shines light on flexible solutions
The REC has given its support to National Freelancers Day organised by the Professional Contractors Group (PCG). The aim is to promote awareness and recognition for the contribution that freelancers make to the UK economy and to business performance.
Speaking after the PCG's House of Commons reception, REC Chief Executive Kevin Green said: The availability of highly skilled flexible workers is a major asset to UK Plc and it is important to recognise this contribution. Freelancers - as well as other categories of flexible workers such as interim managers, contractors and temporary workers - will play a pivotal role in helping businesses seize new opportunities during the upturn. It is also clear that attitudes to work are evolving with many skilled professionals actively embracing the flexibility and autonomy that different forms of working can provide.
The REC has worked in co-operation with the PCG on specific campaigns - for example, ensuring that genuinely self-employed workers are excluded from the scope of the EU Agency Workers Directive.
