The latest Manpower UK Global Report entitled Rules of Engagement: Harnessing the Potential of Your Contingent Workforce.

The Contingent Workforce Report, which surveyed over 2,000 UK employers, calls for employers to evolve their talent acquisition strategies to meet growing competition in the post-recovery economy key findings include:

78% of UK employers do not think that contingent workers are an important element of their overall workforce strategy

Of the 11 industry sectors surveyed, employers in the Restaurants & Hotels sector (40%) most often consider non-permanent workers as key to their strategy. On the other hand, Finance & Business Services sector employers (84%) were least likely to recognise contingent workers as a crucial element of their workforce strategy

Among employers in the UK, the most commonly cited usage for contingent workers is to cope with seasonal periods (13%), this is moderately less than the global average of 19%

The findings suggest that organisations could do more to ensure that their contingent employees perform at the highest levels - Manpower believes that over time, contingent workers will play an ever more important strategic role in employers workforce strategy.
