Matchtech Celebrates Double Win!

Matchtech Celebrates Double Win!
On Thursday 26th November 2009 the UK recruitment industrys trade body the REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) held its first Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) awards at the Honourable Artillery Company in London. The awards are a showcase for the talent and professionalism of the UK recruitment industry.
Over 300 guests were in attendance at the event and no fewer than 15 awards were handed out to lucky recipients. Matchtech had 7 shortlisted consultants, and went on to win in the following categories:
Best Newcomer Award, awarded to Simon Page
Temporary Consultant of the Year, awarded to Claire Sullivan
After only eighteen months with Matchtech but already one of the highest billers, Simon is a worthy winner. However, it was the fact that he goes the extra mile that made the difference a regular attendee of out of office hours events - such as trade fairs - to improve his technical knowledge, Simon works very hard to benefit his candidates. Speaking at the awards, Simon said I was really pleased to win this category, I have worked hard to pick up the technical knowledge required to understand the skill sets I work for and was delighted to have this recognised. All in all this tops off a very enjoyable start to my time with Matchtech!.
Temporary Consultant Claire Sullivan placed 241 staff last year, and leading a busy team of 5 consultants (as well as taking time out to give birth to her daughter), she has placed 165 IT contractors within the NHS, which has helped Matchtech to become the second largest NHS recruitment supplier in the country. Claire commented I am really proud of what I have achieved this year, I have worked really hard and winning the award is brilliant especially as I spent the majority of the year pregnant.
Speaking of the awards, Kevin Greene, the RECs Chief Executive said this evening is just the start of a journey which could take between 10 and 15 years in realising our goal of professionalising the industry and attaining chartered status.
Matchtechs HR & Training Director Dave Rees commented Matchtech has been a corporate member of the REC for over 10 years, and demonstrates its commitment to professional standards in the industry by putting all of its consultants through the RECs Certificate in Recruitment Practice during the early training phase. We back this up further by paying for  their annual membership of the IRP. Simon and Claire should be very proud of their achievements-they have done a great job.
Matchtech continues to look for new talent to join its consulting teams. Details of our current vacancies and what it is like to work with us are available on our website ( All applications are welcomed and who knows, perhaps you will be stripping Claire and Simon of their titles next year!
