Personnel & Care Bank Upskill record number of carers

Despite the recession, Home care specialists Personnel & Care Bank (PCB) which has offices in Coventry and Birmingham, have announced that the number of temporary carers they trained in 2009 has increased by a record 60% over 2008 figures. This is the highest year on year increase in free training since they started offering the courses in 1995.

PCBs training manager Gill Smale commented: As a CQC 3 star care provider, it is vital that our staff have maximum opportunities to upskill* to meet the requirements of our individual clients. We can directly attribute this increase to the take-up of e-learning courses which are perfect for carers who want to study at home at a time convenient to them and their family commitments.

PCB uses audit feedback from their clients and candidates to ensure that their courses are continually meeting their requirements. Based on this feedback PCBs Care Academy designs bespoke PC based training modules which blend with the practical based classroom courses to provide the fully integrated training packages that carers require.

Added Gill: We are supporters of the government initiative to increase NVQ 2,3 and 4 qualifications by providing free training to committed carers. Our aim is to continue to grow our temp training by a further 25% in 2010 and I am confident that our new courses will help us achieve this.
