REC Applauds Funding Boost

REC Applauds Funding Boost
Funding boost will assist in reducing jobs market skills shortages, say Scottish recruitment professionals
Scottish recruiters have given their support to the announcement that 34 million worth of European funding to go towards developing the nations workforce.
The cash injection announced today by Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond will help nearly 30,000 people to find work through a series of schemes such as skills initiatives and community planning partnership.
Lisa Boutineau, Scottish regional director for the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the representative body for the UKs private recruitment industry, said it provided a good opportunity for all interests working within Scotlands labour market to pool their resources in getting more people back into work.
Recruiters have a pivotal role to play through identifying the job opportunities available and helping employers find people who have the necessary skills or who are willing to retrain or reskill themselves.
Research carried out by the REC has shown there are still acute shortages in certain sectors such as engineering and technology. So recruiters are very much at the forefront in giving guidance  to those people who are looking to get back into the jobs market through showing them where the current opportunities are which have been created by these shortages.
The REC in Scotland is already in regular discussion with JobCentre Plus in offering our professional expertise in helping to place available candidates and this extra funding will go a long way in providing support in specific regions.
