Encore raise over 2000 for Charity

Encore Personnel recently organised an 18 mile charity walk, with all proceeds going to Diabetes UK.  Encore Directors Chris Hockey and Ian Briers took part along with 17 determined staff members.

The challenging event took place on the canal towpath, from The Black Horse Pub in Aylestone to Foxton Locks in rural Leicestershire. The journey took the encore team over 5 hours to complete and with the nice weather they were able to take in the beautiful views along the way.

Encore Personnel, with the kind support of Ausden Clark raised 2106 for the Diabetes UK charity. Ausden Clark, the Leicestershire coach company, was kind enough to provide Encore with a coach, free of charge, to get the tired participants home from Foxton Locks after the journey.

The charity walk was dedicated to the Diabetes UK charity, this was chosen by Kellie Simmonds, as she has had personal experience with this disease, a close friends daughter has had Type 1 Diabetes since the age of 2.
Type 1 develops if the body is unable to produce any insulin and type 2 develops when the body can still make some insulin but not enough. There are currently over 2.5 million people with Diabetes in the UK and there are more than half a million people with Diabetes who have the condition and dont know it.
Director, Chris Hockey comments As a company we believe in giving something back we have a corporate scheme in place whereby all our employees can take a Charity Day a paid day off to involve themselves in the charity of their choice. This particular cause is very close to our hearts and we will continue to support the good work that Diabetes UK undertakes.
