Hays IT, the leading recruitment expert, is working in partnership with Nov8 the specialist people, team and cultural development consultancy, to ensure that newly appointed senior IT professionals are successfully embedded within a business. In a recent survey 85% of IT professionals said they thought that onboarding services, such as coaching and mentoring, are crucial for the cultural assimilation of new hires. Despite this, less than a third of respondents (29%) felt that the coaching and mentoring offered was very effective.

From the initial stages, the candidates cultural fit is identified, as are the skills gaps and aspirations of the team. Of the IT professionals surveyed, an overwhelming ninety one per cent cited cultural fit as important or very important when recruiting staff. Cultural assessment tools are used to profile the candidates and support the company in exploring cultural fit at interview stage. This continues after the appointment as they help the candidate identify the desired values, behaviours and a leadership style that will complement the existing team and business. Candidates undertake one to one transformational coaching sessions that continue through their initial period of employment.
