TEAM Announces Charity Partnership
TEAM, the largest network of independent recruiters in the UK, is delighted to announce its first ever charity partnership. The network has decided to work in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support and is calling on its members to help raise 30,000 to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.
With almost 90,000 people of working age diagnosed with cancer each year, TEAM believes the support Macmillan provides is particularly relevant to the 360 members and their staff who are part of the TEAM network.
New research by Macmillan reveals that people who have had cancer treatment have experienced a range of problems when returning to work, and that many are not getting the advice and support they need. TEAM were impressed by the support Macmillan offers to people who are living with cancer, in particular the Macmillan working through cancer toolkit of resources, which is available to both employees and managers giving advice and information on how to support people living with cancer in the workplace.
TEAM are planning to make the working through cancer toolkits available to all their members through the TEAM website www.jobsatteam.com. Alongside this, TEAM will encourage members and visitors to their website to take a few moments to read about Macmillans other campaigns which aim to achieve a better deal for people affected by cancer from help with heating bills to removing hospital parking charges for cancer patients.
TEAM are also hoping their members will take part in a unique 100 challenge which is set to raise 30,000. The money raised from the partnership will help Macmillan to continue to provide vital practical, medical, emotional and financial support for people living with cancer for example 20,000 would fund a Macmillan nurse for five months, 10,000 would enable people to receive a Macmillan financial grant to help with the costs of living with cancer and 5,000 will pay for 472 people to receive reliable cancer information and access someone to talk to through the Macmillan CancerLine 0808 808 00 00.
Liz Longman, TEAM UK Director said, TEAM are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile cause. The Macmillan work is almost all totally funded by voluntary donations which can then help them rebuild the lives of people affected by cancer.
Helen Rogers, Macmillan Fundraising Manager said, Macmillan is delighted to be working with TEAM and its members. TEAM brings together recruitment agencies from across the UK providing recruitment services and advice for its members. Macmillan works in a similar way campaigning nationally for a better deal for cancer patients while also working at a local level in the community to provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support for people affected by cancer. There are 2 million people living with cancer in the UK today and it is Macmillans ambition to reach and improve the lives of everyone affected by cancer, A partnership with TEAM will not only help to raise vital funds to support Macmillans services, but will also help to spread the word about Macmillans campaigns and help to make a lasting difference to the lives of people living with cancer and their families.
