Thousands of Jobs on Directgov
From 1st April jobseekers will log onto Directgov, to access thousands of job vacancies previously found on the Jobcentre Plus website. Directgov is the Governments single point of access to public sector services.
Employers will benefit from this change as vacancies will now be advertised to a wider audience. It will mean that people will be able to job search by using Digital TV, Virgin and Sky, Mobile Phones and the new teletext service on Freeview.
To upload vacancies employers must now access the Employer Direct online service via businesslink.gov.uk where services are available for them in one place. For example, as well as being able to notify a vacancy to Jobcentre Plus, they can find information about our recruitment services and also complete VAT returns and find information about employment law.
Darra Singh, Chief Executive of Jobcentre Plus, said: The Jobcentre Plus database is the largest jobs database in Europe and receives over a million job searches every working day. Directgov, Jobcentre Plus and Businesslink have been working together to make sure that people looking for a job can find what they need via Directgov, which is fast and easy to navigate. These changes form part of a wider long-term plan to move our customer-facing online information onto businesslink.gov.uk. All government departments are required to do this as part of the Varney review by 2011, and DWP is setting a good example by taking the lead and moving towards this goal.
