Top Score For Rooney in Manchester!!

Maria Rooney has distinguished herself by becoming top student in the Recruitment and Employment Confederations Certificate in Recruitment Practice (Cert.RP) qualification.

A total of 105 students nationwide took the exams and Marias highest mark earned her a Distinction.

Now working as a consultant for CRS Manchester in Cheadle, Cheshire, Maria came into recruitment after graduating in 2000 and working briefly in telesales. She felt she needed a new challenge so was taken on as a trainee by a Manchester legal recruitment agency.

In her current role, she specialises in recruiting commercial and corporate bankers into permanent roles across the UK. This, she says, is enabling her to further her knowledge of the banking industry and build on the training she has received so far from the agency. This, she hopes, will help her career progression at the company so she can work her way up to being a senior consultant then account director.

Before joining CRS Manchester, she was on the recruitment team of Nord Anglia, who originally sponsored her Cert.RP and to whom she is grateful for allowing her to complete the course.

Of her achievement in becoming top student, Maria said: I am really proud that my hard work has paid off. It has also helped me become interested in further study.

She added: I found the Certificate course both challenging and satisfying. It was the first time I had studied for ten years and juggling it with a full-time job and a young family meant I had to be extremely organised with my time. The course itself was very absorbing and crystallised a lot of the practical experience I had.

Judith Armatage, the RECs Director of Professional Development said: Maria has achieved an exemplary result in producing a first class examination scoring highly in all four sections of the Certificate in Recruitment Practice. Given the competitive nature of recruiters, she has shown the dedication of professionals working in this industry in striving for the highest possible standards.

The REC is the professional body representing the UKs private recruitment industry. Its Academy for Business offers industry-wide recognised qualifications including the Certificate, Diploma, Honours and Masters Degree in Recruitment Practice, which are designed to meet the needs of recruiters working at all levels.

Recruiters who are members of the Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP), part of the REC, are given support to develop their careers through taking the courses or embarking on specialist training which the organisation runs.
