Graduates Yorkshire launches bid to attract students to regions employers
Graduates Yorkshire is promoting local firms to thousands of Yorkshire students looking for their first step on the careers ladder at the regions largest graduate recruitment fair.
A record number of undergraduates will be looking to secure their futures with blue chip companies and SMEs at the Yorkshire Graduate Recruitment Fair held in Leeds on Thursday, June 9.
Graduates Yorkshire are sponsoring the Local Recruitment Zone which will demonstrate that students dont have to move out of the region to land a job with a top company with excellent career prospects.
Among those exhibiting in the Graduates Yorkshire Local Employer Zone will be Wakefield-based Coca-Cola Enterprises, Bradford Council, , Anchor Housing, Leeds based Asda, EMIS and Huddersfield-based Hallmark Cards.
They will be pitching against the like of PricewaterhouseCoopers, Jaguar Land Rover and IBM who are also looking to secure the best young minds leaving Yorkshires universities this summer.
Martin Edmondson, Chief Executive of Graduates Yorkshire, said: There is a misconception that to get the best jobs you have to move to London. Yorkshire has some of the best companies in the UK and they are looking to Yorkshires graduate talent to help them grow.
Although Leeds is the hub of the graduate economy in Yorkshire, cities like Sheffield, Bradford, York and Hull offer great opportunities to the 40,000 students leaving the regions universities this summer.
The event has been running for 15 years and has been organised by Leeds and Bradford Careers Service and is being held at the University of Leeds Sports and Exhibition Centre.
