How to get ahead hunted in life sciences
On a day that saw Al Gore, former U.S. Vice President and world renowned climate change thought leader, deliver a keynote address at the 2010 BIO International Convention on his vision and passion for making the world a better place to live, RSA had a tough act to follow. Undaunted, the global life sciences executive search and interim management specialists took to the stage to offer some key advice on the issue of career development.
The BIO International Convention is renowned as the worlds largest annual biotech and life sciences gathering. This years event, held in Chicago last month, saw a record-number of attendees and a broad array of top-level speakers who addressed critical global challenges and the top issues in biotech today. Over 15,000 industry leaders attended the event from across 49 states and 65 countries for networking, deal making and high-level sessions.
After the great success of speaking to almost 300 senior executives in the Life Sciences industry at last years event, RSA were invited back to the Convention to share their insights with those interested in discussing the issue of career development. Their presentation provided the backdrop for lively discussion on a careers issue so widely debated in the current climate what to do when a headhunter calls.
It is important to take the call. You have to stop thinking of headhunters as irritants, explained Nick Stephens, CEO of RSA. We no longer live in a world of cradle to grave employment. Each and every one of us is a mobile business and career development is positive. Each call could present you with a multi-million dollar opportunity."
Nick, alongside colleague Skott Burkland, Chairman of RSA Americas, led a discussion to help industry professionals understand that a call from a headhunter is not something to automatically avoid. On the contrary, it could be a million dollar conversation.
It is vital to remember, a call from a headhunter is not a random call. It is targeted to you, its about you and this call could well have a huge impact for you, concluded Skott Burkland.
