Recruitment director Rachel determined not to run out of steam as she prepares for double challenge
Recruitment company director Rachel Shipton is going full steam ahead as she prepares for two of the biggest challenges of her life. Rachel, regional director for Temple Quay Recruitment (gap personnel) in Bristol, is preparing to take her test in driving a steam roller and is in training for a half marathon to raise funds for Diabetes UK.
Rachels interest in steam rollers flourished several years ago when she met her husband Matt and discovered his passion for the industrial vehicles.
I didnt want to be a steam roller widow and as I have a very competitive nature, I decided to get fully involved and take my test, says Rachel, from Stroud, Gloucestershire. To pass my test I will need to show full control over our 1921 Fowler Steam Roller, even demonstrating a three-point turn and an emergency stop which should be interesting.Rachel is also in training for the Bristol Half Marathon on September 5 and hopes to raise 1,000 for Diabetes UK, a charity that is close to her heart. She said:  My mother-in-law has had diabetes for most of her life and it is an incredibly debilitating condition. I hope to raise enough money to pay for a pump that isnt available on the NHS but can transform a patients life as it makes administering the insulin much easier.
Temple Quay Recruitment was established in 2000 and has been a significant operator of the South West recruitment industry ever since. The company, based in Victoria Street, Bristol, offers a comprehensive range of recruitment services, covering temporary, permanent and contract positions across the spectrum of the commercial sector, at all levels.
We pride ourselves on offering a professional, personal service to both clients and candidates, adds Rachel.
Temple Quay last year became part of gap personnel, an organisation that boasts a 50m brand turnover and a network of 30 branches throughout the UK, in locations ranging from Glasgow to Newton Abbot, Devon. gap was ranked ninth in the industrial sector in the latest Recruitment International Awards, which recognise the best 250 recruitment companies in the UK.
