Better news for graduate jobs
Better news for graduate jobs but students still glum
Forty-two per cent of 1500 students recently surveyed by targetjobs.co.uk are not confident of getting a job when they graduate. Eighteen per cent of graduates say that the recession is the main reason why they plan to take up postgraduate study.
However there is good news in the survey for graduates. Over 40 per cent of employers are planning to increase their graduate intake compared with last year and 50 per cent of employers still have graduate vacancies to fill according to the AGR. Confidence among students is highest for the more affluent graduate career sectors such as finance.
Chris Phillips, UK Publishing Director of targetjobs.co.uk, comments upon the report: This just goes to show the difference between perception and reality as some students react negatively to headlines. The message is: dont give up there are opportunities for you.
