Rethink victorious in Recruitment industry Q-Golf event.
City based recruitment firm Rethink Recruitment triumphed in the 2nd annual 1st Option mini golf tournament held at Devonshire Square, London on 13th July. The competition which was devised by the accountancy services organisation, in conjunction with Moneypenney Events, introduced the concept of Q-Golf an exciting twist on the traditional mini golf format. Team members Richard Blanks, Phil Quigley, Alex Diaz and Karen Kaur won by posting the lowest combined team score of 115 beating a team from Barclay Simpson into second place by a single stroke. The spoils for the lowest individual score of the evening were also collected by Phil Quigley of Rethink Recruitment
Holes require either traditional putting skill or the use of a pool cue depending on the way they are set up. The tournament was contested by 15 teams selected from 10 recruitment organisations most of whom are based in the Square mile. The event was played out on new course, with each hole themed around a famous landmark in the Capital.
The idea for Q Golf was borne out of the downturn and the difficulty of escaping the office for a round of golf. Since the traditional 18 hole game takes up hours of valuable time, scheduling a round is not always practical. So for industry golfers, 1st Option conceived and organised a recruitment industry Q-Golf tournament right in the heart of the city with a brand new concept that is ideal for post work relaxation. Significantly, the traditional windmills, tunnels, ramps and potholes have been replaced with replicas of Big Ben, Tower Bridge and Nelsons Column!
Commenting, 1st Option Director David Mount suggested that the popularity of the event was thanks to its compact format: Q Golf is fun, inclusive and very simple to play its an ideal way to let off some steam at the end of the working day. Its reminds me of the popularity of Twenty 20 cricket a simplified and shortened version of a popular game enjoyed post work with a beer in your hand!
He added: We regard the Q Golf event as our way of thanking clients for their ongoing support by putting something back and of course to promote a bit of friendly rivalry between recruiters
