Richard Wright takes chief executive role at Archer Mathieson and will join the main board of The Cornhill Partnership
Richard Wright, former chief executive of specialist finance recruitment consultancy Martin Ward Anderson (MWA), has joined Windsor based Archer Mathieson as chief executive, replacing founder John Archer who recently left the business to pursue other interests. Wright will also have a seat on the main board of The Cornhill Partnership, which comprises Archer Mathieson and three other London based recruitment firms: Correlate Search, Euromedica and BIE Interim Executive.
Wright built his reputation at MWA. Between 1995 and 2008, it grew from a single office with 1m turnover and 10 people to 15 offices with 225 staff and 50m revenue. MWA was acquired by Randstad, the worlds second largest staffing firm, in late 2005, with Wright remaining as chief executive until the end of 2009.
Commenting on Richard Wrights appointment, Cornhill chief executive Robert Walker said: This is a significant coup for us. Richards record clearly speaks for itself. The fact that he has chosen to join us also says something about his belief in the strength of Archer Mathiesons brand and the companys potential for growth, plus the parent groups ambition.
Wright himself said: This is a great opportunity to be in at the start of something new and exciting, backed by the respected and ambitious venture capital investor Barclays Ventures. The Cornhill Partnership companies are strong performers in their respective markets but to date have operated in relative isolation. There are significant but untapped operating and market synergies that we can take advantage of to improve client service and financial performance. Rob Walker and I share similar recruitment career paths, and comparable values, opinions and experience about how to grow high calibre businesses.
Commenting on Archer Mathieson, Wright said: The South East is where Archer Mathieson is well established. But I believe there is great potential to expand the business in the UK and internationally. There is a real opportunity to tap into the recruitment sweet spot, between the top end of consulting and the middle of executive search, so well be strengthening the team over the next few months. Archer Mathieson will become a much larger business in the executive search and interim management segments.
The Cornhill Partnership Limited was created in March 2010 when the assets of former AIM listed Hexagon Human Capital plc were the object of a Barclays Ventures backed management buyout team led by Robert Walker.
