The ARC to work with Buying Solutions
The ARC to work with Buying Solutions on public sector hiring policy
The Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC) is pleased to announce that it has been invited to work with the public sector procurement body, Buying Solutions, in developing new procurement policy for clerical and admin requirements.
Taking into account planned cuts, public procurement in this area has a budget of 2.2bn going forwards with a likely increase in reliance upon temporary labour as the permanent workforce reduces. Buying Solutions, part of OGC, has a substantial stake and wishes to modernise its approach to allow more opportunities for SMEs to work as suppliers, and to try and avoid historical contract and operating problems.
Adrian Marlowe, Chairman of the ARC, said Many of our members will be delighted to participate in any measure that gives them a better opportunity to win public sector work. ARCs embedded legal and commercial knowledge puts us in a unique position to contribute and in that regard we have already put a number of ideas forward to develop a fairer framework. Over the coming months we will work with our members to respond to Buying Solutions enquiries and help build a more equitable and commercially realistic foundation capable of presenting a better solution for the public sector. The opportunities that could flow from this for SME recruitment consultancies generally and our members specifically are significant.
The ARC and its advisers Lawspeed have undertaken significant research in the area of public procurement contracts over the years.
