HB International is pleased to announce the inception of HBI Commodities
Stephen Heal, CEO & Founder of HB International says In March 2010, HBI pulled off a coup in appointing Ravi Chawda as Managing Director of HBI Commodities.
Ravi is considered one of the leading headhunters within the energy and commodity space. Throughout the 7 years in executive energy search combined with 5 years working for Morgan Stanley, Ravi has built an exceptional reputation as a physical crude and products specialist. Responsible for some of the most significant moves in the market combined with a natural flair for managing client relationships with some of the largest energy trading companies in the world, Ravis approach and genuine ability to deliver is second to none. Previously responsible for expanding and cultivating offices in London and Houston, Ravi is now tasked with building HBI Commodities, a Global Energy Search Firm.
I am confident that the backing from HBI will allow me to build the number one energy search firm, globally. In only 3 months of operating as an energy search firm, we have been able to attract some of the best talent in commodity search. Ravi Chawda
Within HBI Commodities first month of trading, HBIC appointed John ODwyer as Head of Global Gas & Power .John joined HBIC from Kinsey Allen International. His industry experience lies primarily in trading crude oil and gas oil options, UK and EU power, UK gas and foreign exchange with the likes of Societe Generale, Cinergy and most recently Cargill. Over the past 5 years in executive search, John has been responsible for building a reputation as one of Europes leading Gas & Power executive search specialists, a unique example of his success was demonstrated in 2008 amidst the financial downturn, John executed the largest move in Power Trading which resulted in a fee worth $400k. Within his first three months he has already delivered 4 retained mandates and has executed on a search in North America, his role will be to broaden the Gas & Power offering into non European geographical locations, namely Asia and the Americas.
What John has achieved in such a short space of time is quite incredible, but a credit to his work ethic and determination. Having John on board truly is a step in the right direction to being a leading global energy search firm Ravi Chawda
Metals and Softs has long been an area of sustained growth and development with considerable demand from clients to expand/strengthen within this area. The market is extremely niche with a very limited number of search consultants who are considered Metals & Softs specialists. After a long standing client referred a metals and softs search consultant, HBI Commodities decided to make their third appointment , Liza Stephens, Head of Metals and Softs. Liza spent 10 years working in metals operations and trading for the likes of Transworld Metals and Considar Metals (Arcelor Mittal Group). In 2000, Liza took the decision to enter the world of executive search and hasnt looked back. Over the past 10 years, Liza is recognised as a leading search consultant within her sector. She has maintained client and candidate relationships throughout this period and is probably one of a handful of consultants who genuinely claim to know their market in depth. In a very short space of time, Liza has already established herself as HBICs Metals specialist, closing her first deal within 4 weeks of joining. Liza will be focusing her efforts on building HBICs Metals and Softs Practice here in Europe with a few to expanding her remit into Asia.
I am genuinely pleased to have someone of Lizas calibre on board, an exceptional consultant who will continue to develop HBICs brand within the Metals and Softs Arena Ravi Chawda
Having already built the foundations of a successful energy search firm within a ridiculously short period, I am extremely excited by the future of HBIC! To date we already have market coverage across energy and commodities, we have executed mandates with some of the largest, most successful trading companies/banks in the world and we are close to opening our Houston office. Over the next 6 12 months the plan is to continue hiring the best energy search consultants in the market and to replicate an already successful model within Asia and the Americas.
