Levy Associates and Grove House Hospice
Levy Associates and Grove House Hospice HERTS 10K shortlisted for the 2010 Charity Times Awards
It was announced that The HERTS 10K has been shortlisted in the national Charity Times Awards in the Corporate Social Responsibility - Project of the Year category.
The event created 5 years ago by Levy Associates to provide much needed funds for Grove House Hospice in St Albans is up against national UK Charity Partnerships including: Cancer Research UK/Towergate Charitable Foundation, Recycling Lives/BAE Systems and Vital Regeneration/BNP Paribas
The award follows on from Levy Associates success last year when the HERTS 10K was nominated at The 2009 Hertfordshire Business awards and winner of the 2009 St Albans and District Chamber of Commerce Award for Corporate and Social Responsibility.
Levy Associates and Grove House Hospice are delighted to be shortlisted for the Charity Times award which is fitting recognition for the dedication that Lawrence Levy and his team have shown in creating one of the fastest growing races in the country and creating the single largest fundraising event for the Grove House Hospice.
Levy Associates has provided the financial contribution that has enabled the event to raise over 500,000 and help change the lives of many hundreds of people and their families living in the St Albans and surrounding areas, so enabling Grove House Hospice to start their new Hospice at Home service.
Lawrence said, When I established Levy Associates in 2000 I was determined the company would take its corporate and social responsibility seriously and would give something back to the community our employees live and work. Its lovely to be nominated and then shortlisted for this award but Grove House needs 1.5m per year just to operate so all were doing is what any Hertfordshire business should.
He went on to say, When we held the first HERTS 10K in 2006 no one could have imagined that within three years the money raised would enable Grove House Hospice to launch its Hospice at Home service. Whilst we knew the event had legs, weve been taken aback by the enthusiasm and support the local community has given it. We could also not have imagined it would become one of the top 10K races in the country and go on to be the largest fundraising event for the hospice.
Paul Parrish Fundraising Director for Grove House Hospice said, I cannot think of a more deserving event to get this award. Lawrence has committed himself heart and soul to raising money for Grove House Hospice and his backing of the HERTS 10K has enabled us to grow our services for this community far quicker that we ever expected. Even in these uncertain economic times Lawrence has continued to back Grove House so that we can continue to develop.
The 5th annual HERTS 10K race will take place on Sunday 10 October 2010 at 10.00am starting at Rothamsted Research in Harpenden. To find out more about the event and to register your place on this award winning run visit www.herts10k.com
