Chris scores college successFormer Hinchingbrooke School student Chris Burling has given himself a head start when it comes to job hunting after being named Best Business Student. The 18 year old achieved the accolade at the end of his two year BTEC course in Business Studies at Peterborough Regional College. Now hes planning on taking a gap year and gaining practical experience in the work place before heading to Northampton University to undertake an accountancy and finance degree. Chris won the award, sponsored by Peterborough-based independent agency Anne Corder Recruitment, on the recommendation of his tutors. Chris tribute said: He has applied himself well to his studies and is well motivated. During the time Chris has been with us his self-confidence has grown. He was shy at first but with encouragement from his teachers and tutor he has given verbal presentations and led groups which have helped him to develop. Chris was unable to receive his award from Anne Corder Recruitment representative Karen Dykes at the official award ceremony because he was working he has a part time job as a swimming teacher near his home in Stuart Close in Godmanchester. But he was welcomed to the agencys office in Park Road to receive his glass trophy and a voucher to mark his success. Chriss course results all distinctions and merits are obviously a reflection of how hard he has worked during his time at the college, said Karen. We were delighted to have the chance to officially congratulate Chris on his success and wish him well for the future. Being named Best Business Student is a brilliant start to that. Keen cricketer Chris said: Im proud to have won the award it was unexpected. Its great to have something like that on my CV, especially as Im now looking for some part time work to get some experience and some money in my pocket before going to university.
