Delivering added value is critical for creative industry recruiters, says advertising boss

Director General of the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA), Hamish Pringle, has urged recruiters to focus on establishing best practice and demonstrating the added value they provide to employers in the sector.

In his address to the RECs Marketing, Media and Creative (MMC) sector group, the leading industry figure underlined the need for recruitment providers operating in the advertising and creative industries market to continue raising the bar.  It was agreed that the overall aims of the RECs Institute of Recruitment Professionals (IRP) mirror those of the IPA in terms of driving an ambitious qualifications and professionalisation agenda in their respective industries.
Pringle advocated the need to bring added value to the hiring process. Recruiters should be encouraged to become long term brand guardians, not just short-term cost controllers.

He said after the meeting:  IPA and REC members share the same pain.  Budget constraints call for a change in strategy. The focus now has to be on raising the real and perceived value of recruitment agencies, through increased professionalism.  In the current day and age, agencies cant just know the price of everything and the value of nothing. We all need to understand the need to become more professional and demonstrate value for money. It is a long game for all of us, but it is the only way to secure long term growth."

Steve Hyde, Chair of the RECs MMC group, commented:
Coming out of the recent recession, the need to focus on high standards, ethics and professionalised services is greater than ever. Achieving best practice and offering better services for less to our clients are the differentiating factors that will ensure our sectors recovery. As a group, we aim to work closely with other stakeholders, trade bodies and independent organisations in innovative partnerships to promote standards and our industrys core function: Sourcing top talent for the UK economy."
