One in five businesses use no form of social networks
19% of businesses use no social networking sites in their day to day business, whilst only 44% are using LinkedIn. Thats according to a snapshot poll undertaken by specialist engineering and technical recruiter CBSbutler, through its Bulletpoint management newsletter. The survey also revealed that 19% of businesses use Facebook and another fifth use Twitter.
Whilst it is no surprise that LinkedIn is the most popular networking site, it is interesting to see that less than half are making use of the benefits it provides for business. It is also a shock to see that 19% of businesses we surveyed use no web based networking platforms comments David Leyshon, Managing Director of CBSbutler. With the boom in social media, more and more companies are becoming tech savvy and carrying out business on these sites so we would have expected more to be utilising the tools available.
Of those who only used LinkedIn in business, reasons why included it is becoming the norm and the other sites such as Facebook and Twitter are not suitable professional forums. It may be that companies know they should be using some form of social media but arent aware of the benefits that the different sites can bring comments Leyshon. Companies should have a clear strategy in place and look at the options available - it is imperative to have aims and objectives in mind to get the best result for your company.
