Agency Workers Regulations: Are you prepared?

Join Osborne Clarke's breakfast seminar and find out what organisations are doing now to prepare for the Agency Workers Regulations.

The Agency Workers Regulations are due to come into force on 1 October 2011. Since they were first published at the beginning of this year, there have been numerous, well publicised requests to re-visit the Regulations. Some aspects may be re-opened, but it is going to be very difficult for the Government to make substantial changes. BIS will be issuing guidance on the Regulations, but this will not be finalised until next spring. This will leave very little time for assessing how the Regulations will impact on hiring organisations and recruitment suppliers.

Many recruiters and hiring organisations have therefore decided they need to plan for the AWR now.

We will look at the issues that need to be addressed in putting together agency worker strategies which work for both recruiters and hiring organisations. We will cover areas including:

When will Government guidance be available?
What do users and suppliers of agency workers need to do now? Is it worth developing workarounds now or should
you first work out the extent of the problem (if any) you face?
What have some companies started doing to assess the impact of the Regulations on them?
Which workers will be protected? Who potentially falls outside scope?
What about limited company contractors and umbrella contractors?
What is the Swedish Derogation? Will it work?
How will organisations involved in RPO and managed service arrangements be affected?
