Pilot graduate scheme hailed a success
A new graduate training scheme offering grassroots entry to the one of the recruitment industrys fastest growing companies has been hailed a success.
Now Recruitment, which is based in Birmingham and has offices across the UK and Australia, launched the pilot scheme in August 2010 after receiving hundreds of applications for their initial assessment centre phase. The first intake of recruits completed the scheme last month.
From the 12 hopefuls selected to take part in the scheme, five have now been given permanent roles within the firm.
The trial was so successful the company now plan a twice-yearly intake, with the next team of graduates being recruited in December for a January start.
Now Recruitments Development Director Tracey Androlia said: Weve been delighted with the calibre of our graduates and the success of the pilot scheme.
Wed anticipated taking on three or four of the group by the end of the training, so its certainly fair to say it has surpassed all our expectations.
We launched the scheme at a time when most recruitment companies were slashing their training budgets to weather the economic climate. By finding seven rising stars in the industry, weve proved we were right to do that.
Now Recruitment was established in 1991 and now has offices in Birmingham, Watford, Newcastle upon Tyne, Edinburgh and Cardiff as well as Melbourne and Sydney.
Those accepted onto the graduate training scheme have the chance to build a recruiting career within one of the companys specific divisions Construction, Trades and Labour, Accountancy, Mechanical and Electrical, Education and Rail.
Trainees first take part in an induction training programme at the group head office in Birmingham where they learn about the Now Recruitment Group, its systems and procedures.
They are also coached in all aspects about recruitment sales by Tracey Androlia. All the selected candidates completed this five week masterclass early in October.
Throughout their first year they receive additional individual and group training to help them continually develop their skills.
They will also have a chance to compete for prizes within the companys exemplary staff incentive scheme, some of which are linked to commitment, development and attitude as well as revenue generated to build high morale within the firm.
Trips to New York, Tenerife and Dubai are among the recent incentives offered to Now Recruitment staff.
Managing director Gary Redman said: Graduates coming to us have a unique opportunity to be part of something special. Working at Now Recruitment is hard work and can be stressful, but it is always exciting.
If the young people coming to us have the potential and attitude to succeed, we in turn make sure it can be very rewarding.
