Recruiting expert strengthens safeguarding of children

Following a number of high profile tragedies it was made compulsory that everybody working in educational establishments is up-to-date with the latest information about safeguarding children, prompting Hays to launch a new training programme. The comprehensive online course supports educational establishments in their quest to improve their staffs knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.

Temporary workers supplied by Hays, the leading recruiting expert, will now have to pass the programme as part of the already stringent screening and registration process. Four modules will be covered providing participants with essential information regarding the safeguarding and protection of children, recent legislation, health and safety, and their roles and responsibilities. It also includes a module on e-safety, which is increasingly important in the fight against cyber bullying. All temporary workers will now have to pass the programme, so it will also help employers to identify the best talent and provide peace of mind that their employees are up-to-date with the latest safeguarding information.

Roop Bhumbra, Director at Hays Education, comments: Employing workers who have passed our training programme will give employers the added confidence that they are only recruiting people who are up-to-date on their safeguarding knowledge. The protection of children is of the highest priority for everyone involved in a learning environment and is at the heart of everything we do. We recognise that employers have a huge responsibility to ensure that their staff are capable of dealing with these issues and we want to do all we can to support them and give peace of mind that our candidates have the right skills, knowledge and information in this important area of child protection.
