ICT criteria needs to be enforced says REC Technology

Intra-Company Transfers vital for global business but must not be abused, says REC Technology

The Governments recent announcement on immigration policy confirmed that Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) visas will not be included within the cap on non-EU economic migration. Whilst recognising the importance of internal mobility for global businesses, the RECs Technology Group has underlined the need for ICT criteria to be properly enforced.

The Tier 2 immigration entry route is used by companies based overseas with UK operations to move staff into the UK. Similar schemes exist for UK companies to move their staff internationally to their overseas offices on a short term basis.

Commenting on the Governments recent announcement, Jeff Brooks, Chair of  REC Technology says:

There are valid reasons for Intra-Company Transfers in a global economy. Getting rid of these all together would impact on the viability of the UK as a location for international  businesses. However, the Government must ensure that the criteria are clearly understood and that the system is not abused which could limit opportunities for UK contractors.

The Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) already agreed with the need to tighten the system following a sustained campaign on this issue earlier this year. The REC Technology Group will continue to work closely with organisations such as the Professional Contractors Group to ensure that this is followed through.
