Birmingham primary schools donate hundreds of books to schools destroyed by arson attack

Hundreds of books have been handed over to pupils at a school in Wolverhampton that was destroyed in an arson attack.

Staff from educational recruitment agency Aspire People based in Sutton Coldfield visited Wilkinson Primary School in Bilston with the reading and exercise books.

Wilkinson Primary in Walter Road was destroyed by fire on October 11.

Aspire People director Michaela Powell said: "When we heard about the tragic events at Wilkinson Primary School we knew there was something we could do to help.

"We have been collecting books from primary schools across Birmingham. Mike Jameson from the Birmingham Bursar Group has been a big help in spreading the word.

"It just goes to show what we can do when we all pull together. It must be so hard for the children who have lost their school."

Pupils returned to the site of their fire-hit school this week after a month taking lessons in a church.
