Government and business leaders give their backing to new recruitment site Grey4Gold
Grey4Gold is an innovative new recruitment website matching experienced senior executives with retail businesses.
The site is completely free to use for candidates and businesses and was built in response to the growing older working population in the UK.
For older workers who have either retired, are looking for a new career opportunity or have been made redundant during the recession, re-entering the employment market can often be difficult in a UK work culture that still favours youth over experience.
Retirement does not mean what it once did and Grey4Gold candidates still want to be active after retirement and make up a huge, untapped workforce who has lived through the inevitable ups and downs that business brings.
The venture has already received the full backing of Government and senior retail executives.
Mark Prisk, Minister for Business and Enterprise said that it is essential that the UK makes full use of the skills and talent that already exists in the community.
I am delighted that Grey4Gold has risen to this challenge, he said.
Harold Tillman CBE, chairman of Jaeger, Aquascutum and the British Fashion Council said: It is essential that small and medium sized businesses grow and flourish to get our economy going again, and that is why I believe that Grey4Gold, designed by British talent, is an exciting new initiative.
Grey4Gold is bringing together candidates with retail businesses retail currently employs one in ten workers in the UK and provides the UK economy with over 289bn in sales annually.
Grey4Gold was founded by former Moss Bros chief executive Rowland Gee, who has over 35 years of experience in the retail sector. Other shareholders include the founder of recruitment firm Prima Principia, Craig Vidler, who has worked in the executive recruitment market for over 38 years.
Grey4Gold believes that matching retail businesses with experienced, skilled workers on either a part time, full time, non-executive, interim or mentoring basis will prove hugely beneficial especially for many growing SMEs.
For young businesses or start-ups aspiring to reach the next growth level, bringing a senior executive or mentor on board could also be invaluable.
Grey4Gold is a cost free and innovative way to bring businesses and true business experience and knowledge together. There is no middle man at Grey4Gold with employers able to contact candidates directly.
Over 80% of over 55s and 60% of over 60s now choose to work according to the ONS and with the proportion of the UK population aged over 65 projected to increase to 23% by 2033 older workers will become an increasingly important part of the economy and UK business.
