Sector Chairs Summit highlights 2011 priorities

Sector Chairs Summit highlights 2011 priorities

The REC hosted a roundtable meeting for all its Sector Group Chairs this week to take stock of recent developments in different sectors of the industry and to assess priorities for 2011.

This Sector Chairs Summit brought together the Chairs of most of the RECs 21 Sector Groups, representing the whole spectrum of the recruitment industry. The meeting was also attended by external organisations such as the CBI who provided an update on the latest economic outlook for 2011 and priorities for UK businesses as a whole.

Commenting on the outcome of the Sector Chairs Summit, Jeff Brooks, Chair of REC Technology and of REC Sectors, said:

It is extremely valuable to exchange views on how the market is developing in different sectors and to take stock of specific challenges and external pressures. There is a much more positive outlook compared to this time last year with sectors such as financial services, technology, pharmaceutical & science and engineering reporting positive growth.

Over 3000 recruitment businesses and agencies are represented across the different Sector Groups. Providing customized information and support to specialist recruiters is increasingly important and we are in an excellent position to grow our voice and influence across the different markets. Priorities for 2011 include driving sector-specific lobbying and client awareness campaigns and continuing to use Sector Groups as the main catalyst for active involvement in the work of the REC.
