VMA Group strengthens UK team on back of market growth

VMA Group, the specialist communications recruiter, is reporting a strong end to 2010 having enjoyed two quarters of sustained growth. The organisation is confident that this upturn will carry on into 2011 and has continued with its own recruitment push taking on six new people across its London and Manchester offices.

Joanne Watkins and Lindsay Wienand join the external communications practice this month bringing with them excellent public relations and communications experience. Joanne has enjoyed a twenty year career in travel and leisure communications working for well known hotel chains in Hong Kong and the United States, and with specialist agencies in the UK. She will work alongside VMA Group senior consultant, Lucy Keogh on mid level to senior roles.

Lindsay was a VP at Consumer Dynamics, part of Financial Dynamics, and before that she was in house for Direct Line insurance. Latterly she has provided interim support for Templars PR. Lindsay will work with the external communications team on mid level roles in the 30k - 55k bracket both in house and in consultancy.

Interim roles within the external communications practice will now be handled by Lucinda Moores who comes with strong recruitment experience developed over seven years with Hays.

VMA Group in Manchester is also consolidating its PR agency practice with the addition of Rachel Powell to the team. Rachel joins from McCann in Manchester where she was a senior account manager in the PR team looking after a variety of high profile clients. Prior to that she held a number of PR and communications roles both in the UK and in Australia.

VMA Enhance, the professional development arm of VMA Group, has taken on Saskia Webster-Zazzi in a support role. Saskia is a graduate of London Metropolitan University with a BA in Public Relations and Sociology and her background is in advertising and marketing.

Alex Wallington joins VMA Group as a team assistant to provide full support for the largest dedicated team of internal communications specialists in the marketplace. Previously Alexandra worked at specialist healthcare recruiters Sugarman where she looked after the needs of a diverse range of candidates including their registration and any compliance issues.

Commenting on the number of new hires Claire Tuffin, managing director of VMA Group UK, said: We are very pleased to be able to plan for 2011 with real assurance. We are seeing a marked increase in business and a return in confidence from clients and candidates alike. We plan to be ready to take advantage of this new buoyancy.
