Barclays to host launch event for APSCo recruitment MBA

The launch of the first ever MBA programme specifically designed for recruitment executives will be hosted by Barclays Corporate, the global financial services provider, at its Canary Wharf headquarters on the 27th January 2011.
The launch will be hosted by Barclays, who are the sponsors of the programme, on the 30th floor atrium of its landmark headquarters, which commands stunning views of London.
The launch event will be a major opportunity for key recruitment sector stakeholders to meet the programme creators and key representatives from the Business School. The programme creators will give a brief overview of the structure of the MBA and examples of the content. 
The programme is a collaboration between the Association of Professional Staffing Companies (APSCo) and the prestigious Henley Business School. The idea was initiated by APSCo CEO Ann Swain.
The programme, which will have the title of MBA An Executive Programme for International Management (International Recruitment Management), will be delivered by flexible learning at the Schools Greenlands Campus from September 2011.
The MBA is open to experienced managers with a degree and at least three years recruitment sector experience, or senior managers without a degree and at least five years industry experience. The three year flexible programme will follow the structure of the Henley MBA and in addition include recruitment specific content and activities. Programme Members will have the opportunity to spend a week abroad with a staffing company.
Ann Swain, Chief executive of APSCo, comments: We are thrilled to finally launch this ground-breaking initiative. The recruitment profession in the UK has waited too long for a professional qualification of this calibre, which has already received huge levels of interest from around the world.
The motivation behind the creation of APSCo is to professionalise the recruitment sector. This MBA programme is a major milestone on that journey. The qualification will be an excellent way for companies to retain valued senior managers, aid with succession planning and boost the credentials of any recruitment company management team.
She adds: There is no financial relationship between APSCo and Henley. APSCo members will, however, be entitled to a substantial discount on fees.
The subject pathways of the recruitment-specific part of programme are being created by a steering group of leading recruitment industry executives and academics, chaired by APSCo Chief Executive Ann Swain. The group consists of: Les Duncan (MD, Hays Corporate Accounts), Phil Sheridan (UK MD, Robert Half), Mike Daniels (Head of Business Services, Barclays), Chris Barnard (Director of Operations, Randstad Interim Executives), Professor Roger Palmer (Professor of Marketing & Management, Henley Business School), David Roust (Relationship Director, Barclays), Roland Sheehan (Director, MSI Group), Dr Jean-Anne Stewart (Director of Corporate MBA programmes, Henley Business School), Rosemary Hayes (Director of Marketing, Henley Business School),  Natasha Clarke (Director of Strategic Planning & Implementation, SThree), Tony Hall (Global Head of Talent Management, Alexander Mann Solutions), Chris Bartlett (MD, GCS Recruitment Specialists) and  Jane Newell Brown (Director, Silver Space).
