REC appoints new Head of Policy

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) has announced it has appointed Gillian Econopouly as its new Head of Policy.

In her new role, Gillian will be leading the RECs lobbying and campaigning work, liaising with Government and other opinion-formers on a wide range of issues affecting the recruitment industry.

Gillian joins the REC from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. There, she started as Public Affairs Manager but was promoted to its Head of Policy last year. Leading on the Chambers work on employment and skills, economic and survey research, she also developed relationships with Government and decision-makers at regional, UK and EU levels. Prior to that, Gillian held policy roles at several charities.

Of her appointment with the REC, Gillian commented: I am delighted to be joining the REC at such a pivotal moment for UK employment and the economy at large.

The recruitment industry has an important and ever-growing role to play in helping firms find the skilled staff they need, which is a key building block for the sustained growth the UK is searching for.

She added: I look forward to taking the views of REC members to Government and working to ensure their business environment is an open and positive one that enables them to meet the needs of their clients, take on skilled candidates and grow their own companies.
