REC provides UK perspective at European level

REC provides UK perspective at European level
The Recruitment & Employment Confederation (REC) attended the latest Public Affairs Committee meeting in Brussels organised by Eurociett, the representative body of the recruitment industry in Europe.
Discussions focused on the progress of the Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) implementation on a national level, as well as the future strategy to develop employable skills amongst Europes youth. The meeting was attended by all major national federations as well as major recruitment businesses such as Adecco and Manpower.
Commenting after the meeting, Konstantinos Makrygiannis, the RECs Policy & PR Advisor said:
It is always productive to come together with our European partners to discuss common issues and challenges. By working in partnership we can form a stronger voice and influence E.U. policy effectively.
During the latest meeting we had the opportunity to listen to other countries experience with AWR and outline our extensive programme of raising awareness of the regulations amongst our members and their clients.
On a national level the REC has been leading the debate on soft skills and youth employment through our Youth Employment Taskforce and the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jobcentre Plus. We will now have the opportunity to feed that work through Ciett and the Europe 2020 project on an international level.
As we see more of our members looking at expansion opportunities across Europe, the information we collect through this network can provide helpful insight into other EU markets.
Eurociett brings together 27 national federations from EU and EFTA countries, and six of the largest international staffing companies. Its main objectives are to lead pro-active lobbying campaigns in Europe and to promote the positive role of the private sector recruitment industry.
