Distinctive recruiter adds to services and choice with strategic alliance

Two times Recruiter Awards for Excellence winner, Relay Recruitment, has joined growing national player, Stafforce Recruitment, in a move designed to bring clients additional services and reach and an expanded candidate pool. Its brand, culture, branches and workforce will remain.

Managing director, Steven Street, who has led Bradford-headquartered Relay with co-founder, Laurence Elliott, since its inception in 1996, describes the strategic alliance as a marriage of minds between two organisations that offer more than just recruitment.

He said: Recently, we have spent a lot of time and energy looking at how to grow while continuing to add value to employers working in demanding markets. We decided that joining forces with a larger, better established group is the best way to preserve all that is great and distinctive about Relay, while ensuring the investment, critical mass and commitment to development needed to carry on bringing competitive advantage to our host companies.

Stafforce is on our wavelength. Like us, it has always placed great emphasis on ethical practice and bringing top performers to sophisticated employers who realise the benefits a superior workforce. Beyond that, we both offer wider business consultancy and constantly update clients about upcoming employment law, social and demographic changes - then help them manage these.

While Relays distinctive identity and consultants will be unchanged, employers will benefit immediately from direct access to many managed services that the company has only been able to provide via third parties up to now.

Among new complementary packages to labour supply are the complete HR function, from search and selection through to training and payroll accredited Business Improvement Techniques (BIT), such as the 5S Programme, lean manufacturing, waste reduction, CI, Kaizen and health and wellbeing and bespoke E-learning and 3D-NDT software for recruitment, business and manufacturing.
The branch network has been extended from a Yorkshire footprint to national coverage, while a UK-wide portfolio of dedicated onsite operations supports leading Blue Chips and other recognised brands.

Steven Street reports quick uptake of Relays improved offer. Already, we have brought BIT training to a major client and taken an order for installation teams throughout the UK. Previously, this business would have fallen to competitors.

Stafforce consultants will benefit from access to the acclaimed Relay Academy. This training facility continually canvasses emerging client needs in fast-moving markets, then ensures that individuals are equipped with the appropriate knowledge and skills to meet them.

Between them, Stafforce and Relay service an impressive stable of clients, including Princes, The Co-op, BorgWarner, NG Bailey, Golden Wonder and Aunt Bessies.

Stafforce chief executive, Ian Anderson added: "Stafforce has exciting and ambitious plans for the future and I am delighted to announce that we have taken the next important step forward and Relay Recruitment is now officially part of the family. I am confident that our combined assets, capabilities, people and potential will form a business that will achieve great things."
