Bright Purple leads call for business to support 2011 Edinburgh MoonWalk

Recruitment specialists Bright Purple Resourcing are calling on Scottish-based companies to support this years MoonWalk in Edinburgh which aims to raise millions for cancer charities in Scotland.

For the second consecutive year the Edinburgh-based companys team, the Bright Purple Paps, will participate in the event which is held in the Scottish capital on June 11 when thousands of women and men will walk the streets at midnight. While entries for the Full Moon walk of 26.2 miles have closed, individuals and groups are being encouraged to sign up for the remaining spaces on the Half Moon trek of just over 13 miles.

Bright Purples team of five walkers who will again aim to complete the Full Moon walk - will include the companys Operations Manager, Judit Czobor. She said: We are delighted to be involved again. Its a great event, which has raised over 12m to date for cancer charities throughout Scotland.

We would urge more companies to take part because its all for an excellent cause. We have also found it a great way of building team spirit, something you certainly need to complete a 26 mile walk in the middle of the night.

Some of the charities benefitting from Edinburgh MoonWalk grants include Maggies Care Centre Glasgow, Breast Cancer Institute Edinburgh, and the Breast Cancer Campaign Dundee.

Nina Barough, the Founder and Chief Executive of the Walk the Walk the charity behind The MoonWalk said: We appreciate the effort from companies like Bright Purple and the thousands of individuals who take part in The MoonWalk Edinburgh each year. Its a great challenge which enables women and men to get themselves fitter and, in the process, help the lives of so many going through cancer treatment.

I would encourage Scottish companies to support the event and put together a team for the Half Moon which is still open to entries. This is a great way to introduce themselves to The MoonWalk and help us to continue to raise millions to improve the lives of cancer patients in Scotland.
