Omega airmen set to take to the sky for record breaking challenge
Two of Omegas senior execs, manager Ashley Moore and MD James Strickland, are standing by to embark on a potentially world record-breaking challenge to cross the English Channel in a hot air balloon.
Within the next 24 hours, subject to clearance from the Met Office, James and Ashley will be taking to the skies as part of the largest flotilla of balloons ever to attempt the crossing 75 in total.
As soon as they receive the all clear, the Omega pilots and their 74 co-challengers will have 24 hours to get to Kent, blow up their balloons and prepare for the flight.
Upon successfully landing in France, they will join the elite few in the world who have a Guinness World Record to their name.
This is a challenge which I have always aspired to do and I cant wait to get the all clear so we can finally attempt to cross the channel, said Ashley.
Its not an easy feat, he explained. We will be crossing one of the busiest shipping lanes, so having the weather on our side is very important.
But as soon as the Met Office gives us the all clear, we will be heading down to Kent, ready to break a world record!
The Cross Channel Challenge will not only be an amazing opportunity to see 75 balloons flying across the channel, but also provides the perfect opportunity to raise money and awareness for a number of charities, including the Royal National Lifeboat Institute, the Halow Project and Help for Heroes, Omegas chosen charity.
