Women in Technology highlights importance of female talent

More needs to be done to recognise female talent, according to Women in Technology. As a partner in the recent CWT everywoman in Technology Awards which celebrate the success of women in the IT industry, the career site and recruitment service says that the business world needs more events that highlight the exciting career opportunities that are available in male dominated sectors like technology and celebrate female achievements.

Women in Technology sponsored the Rising Star of the Year category presenting the award to Stephanie Nicolaou. Stephanie, who is quickly climbing up the career ladder at Augusta Westland Helicopters Ltd, left school with no qualifications but soon discovered her calling in IT. Going on to complete her degree, she was taken on as an ICT Systems analyst and has already made an impact on the business.

Maggie Berry, MD of Women in Technology who sat on the judging panel commented: We recognised that Stephanie was a great candidate for the Rising Star of Year award, proving to others that with hard work and determination you can succeed in the technology sector.

The awards are a fantastic way to recognise and celebrate the success of women, and with men far outweighing the number of females working in IT we need more events like this to recognise the high flyers, but also highlight the fantastic and rewarding careers that are available. We are already looking forward to supporting the event next year.
