JENNIFER BATTY IS ONE OF THE UKS TOP SIX PAs
Jennifer Batty, of Richmond, has made it to the final six in Hays, the leading recruiting expert, and The Times PA of the Year Award. Competition was tough, with entry numbers up 60% on last year, but Jennifers dedication and proactive attitude saw her through to the final stage successfully. The overall winner of Hays and The Times PA of the Year Award 2011 will be announced on 19th May at an awards ceremony in central London attended by the final six.Jennifer Batty, Executive Assistant to Associate and Executive Directors of Russell Reynolds Associates, says I am over the moon to have been named as one of the UKs top PAs. I have always given 110% to both my job and my company and it feels great to have all my hard work and input recognised. If Jennifer is named the 2011 PA of the Year, she will win a five night break for two in Prague, courtesy of Portman Travel. She will also receive a place on The PA Retreat, an intensive residential training programme for management PAs, courtesy of Castalia Coaching & Training. Previous winners of this prestigious award have gone on to speak about their profession at conferences and events, both within the UK and internationally. This years judging panel consists of: Susie Barron-Stubley, Managing Director of Castalia, the coaching and training company Gareth Osborne, Director General of the Association for Personal Assistants (APA) Laura Richardson, last year's winner and Geoff Sims, Managing Director of Hays PA & Secretarial.Geoff Sims, Managing Director at Hays PA & Secretarial, comments: PAs like Jennifer make a huge contribution to organisations and there is often not enough acknowledgement for people in these important support roles who keep the wheels of business turning. Jennifer has made it to the final six through stiff competition and I wish her and the others the best of luck for the announcement in May.Our research suggests office support workers really underestimate how they are viewed by colleagues less than half (48%) of employees in office support roles believe their colleagues think they provide essential support when in fact the reality is more positive, with around 80% of employers saying office support workers provide essential support and are the backbone of the organisation. The winner will be announced by Michelle Mone OBE on 19 May. Michelle is the founder and co-owner of MJM International and creator of Ultimo, the UKs leading designer lingerie brand. She is listed as one of the top three female entrepreneurs in the UK and was recently voted the number one woman in business by Glamour Magazine. Michelle says: These six finalists all share a proactive and adaptable spirit I can easily relate to. As someone who has built up her own business, I know how vital it is to have a strong team around you. People often do not appreciate just how demanding the role of PA is, and how significant their contribution to an organisation is, so its great that Hays and The Times have sought out six of the nations best. I wish the best of luck to all the talented final six ahead of the award announcement in May.
