High end jobs in financial services picking up - but private sector stagnation a worry

James Callander, managing director of FreshMinds Talent, a leading recruitment company specialising in high end professional and financial services recruitment comments on research carried out by the Recruitment and Employment Confederation has shown that the creation of UK private sector jobs slowed to a seven month low in May.
The research says that there had been less of a slowdown in 'high-end' jobs in technology and financial services, with the biggest slowdown being in the hospitality and catering sectors.

I would have to agree with the Recruitment and Employment Confederations findings, particularly with regards to financial services, in which we have seen a marked increase over the last year with more positions being made available from both at a graduate and mid management level. From a recruitment perspective, the sectors we specialise in, particularly retail management, professional services and financial services have not stopped growing showing that there is a clear thirst for good talent to fill new positions. However, in other sectors, it is clear that there is a lack of confidence in creating new jobs, exacerbated by the government and Bank of Englands move, particularly the expected interest rate rise. This is particularly bad news given the number of public sector jobs that are clearly in need of being absorbed by the private sector.
