INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE CAN COVER EMPLOYEE EVACUATION FROM POLITICAL UNREST

INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL AND TRAVEL INSURANCE CAN COVER EMPLOYEE  EVACUATION FROM POLITICAL UNREST

Businesses should seriously consider whether they are adequately covered for non-medical evacuation in the wake of continuing global political unrest, PMI Health Group warns.

Although non-medical evacuation is not a standard offering of international PMI and corporate travel policies, there are some insurers who include it by partnering with specialist service providers.

Unrest across the Middle East and North Africa has been headline news and as it continues, from Syria to Yemen, it is becoming extremely difficult to predict where it may happen next, said Mike Blake, PMI Health Group Compliance Director.

This has acted as a wake-up call for businesses, but many are unaware that including non-medical evacuation with their international PMI or corporate travel insurance scheme may be an option for them. Instead they have turned to corporate political violence or kidnap & ransom policies without investigating this possibility.

Emergency evacuation can cost employees tens of thousands of pounds and so it is vital companies have appropriate cover in place when sending staff abroad. This, however, may not be as costly as many might think and it is advisable to seek professional advice.

PMI Health Group is the UKs largest independent specialist provider of employee healthcare and risk management services. Its pioneering service, PMI Global, offers insurance and healthcare support for employees abroad.
