More businesses join mission to increase number of women in IT

A careers site, recruitment service and networking forum, designed to increase the number of women working in the technology industry, Women in Technology, has gained support from a new sponsor.
Global IT consultancy, ThoughtWorks, has come forward as a sponsor as part of its global initiative to attract and support women in the IT industry.
Commenting on the new partnership, Maggie Berry, Managing Director of Women In Technology says: We're delighted that ThoughtWorks is coming on board as one of our headline sponsors and we're looking forward to supporting and working with them over the coming months. ThoughtWorks is an exciting IT consultancy working with cutting-edge technology, so we're keen to help them spread the message about the potential opportunities that are available to female technologists within their organisation. They are also interested in supporting the wider issue of women working in the IT profession and how the profession can work together to increase those numbers up from the current 18%.
Alex Gibson of ThoughtWorks commented: We chose to sponsor Women in Technology because of its fantastic reputation, its network of talent, its recruitment services and the range and standard of its events. Being a network member of such a powerful organisation is an opportunity for us to improve and be recognised as an employer of choice for women, continuing in our dedication to creating a diverse workforce.
