Syntax Recruit First Apprentices

Syntax Recruit First Apprentices
Syntax Consultancy, the Derby-based recruitment, IT services and training company, has recruited its first two apprentices as part of a long-term recruitment and training programme.
Nicole Pirie (17) has joined the Technical and Engineering recruitment division and Tom Mellor (18) has joined the IT Services division.  Both will be working at the company in College Place, Cathedral Quarter, whilst completing industry-recognised qualifications.
Syntax Managing Director Roger Frost explained: We have a young and talented team who have benefited from our policy to promote wherever possible from within the company, supported by a structured learning and development programme.
When we were looking to expand the IT services and Technical and Engineering Recruitment areas of the business, we investigated the apprenticeship route and are delighted with the progress made so far by these two young people.
Recruitment and IT services are particularly fast moving and technology driven industries so young people such as Nicole and Tom have a great deal to offer our business in terms of IT and social media skills. We in turn are able to give young people the first step onto the career ladder and give something back to the local economy that has supported us so well in our expansion over the past 20 years.
In addition, many of the businesses that we work with particularly in the engineering and manufacturing industries are reviving their apprenticeship programmes so there are a lot of synergies with our clients in this commitment to youth employment.
Nicole Pirie from Chaddesden is a former pupil at Lees Brooke School said: I was looking for a job in recruitment and this route of combining learning with work experience is brilliant.  It is great to be treated as an adult and given and gain a real insight into this exciting industry.
Tom Mellor from Kilburn attended John Flamsteed School and Derby College before joining Syntax.  He will be completing his qualifications through the College based at The Roundhouse. He said: This is the best of both worlds and I a great opportunity to build a career in IT.
